If you’ve been following our blog, you will have noticed that one of my new year’s resolutions included healthier eating. Due to dietary restrictions, I have had to slowly transition to a plant-based diet. With no vehicle, I find it difficult at times to do my weekly grocery shop. I enjoy shopping local, so I was ordering harvest baskets from a local place in town. Unfortunately, I wasn’t pleased with the customer service so I ventured off in search of different options. I noticed a company called SPUD have their van’s buzzing around town often, so when checking out their website it all seemed too good to be true. Online grocery delivery? Pet products? Flash sales? It’s like One-Eyed Willy’s treasure except with fresh produce and reward points!
So what is SPUD? SPUD is an online organic grocery delivery company located in Canada. By working with local farmers and vendors, they are able to bring fresh and unique products to their customers.
Voted Best Grocery Delivery in 2016, SPUD prides themselves in their customer service and quality products. With each order, I am always finding something new to try. The most recent? Lotus Foods Volcanic Rice. Snazzy, right? If you’re a meat fanatic, SPUD’s got you covered too. They sell meat such as lamb and venison, including surf and turf and meat variety packs. And if you feel like you don’t have enough time during the week to cook, SPUD also carries delicious Ready To Eat Meals.
So, how can you get all of the goodies? Orders can be placed online, and depending on your location SPUD will have a certain delivery day based on your area. Each order earns you a certain amount of SPUD Reward Points, which can be later be redeemed for $10 off once you reach 1000 points. Your friends can join in on the fun too! By sending a friend your individual referral code, you AND your friend can get $20 off when they spend at least $50 on their first order.
You’ve probably been wondering why the heck I haven’t mentioned a thing about pets yet. Well, here it is! The big reveal! Have you ever considered creating a resume for your dog? Here’s your chance! SPUD has an amazing opportunity right now for a pooch in need of a job. They are currently looking for delivery dogs to help deliver the delicious goods to their customers! You can check out the ad here. I think I should submit a resume for Bain. He’s unemployed, and spends his day at home naked while waiting for me return to make him dinner – sounds like my ex!
Out of all of the items I shop for, cat litter is one of the most difficult for me to bring home. The good news? SPUD carries cat litter! They also carry other great pet products such as bully sticks, treats, dog and cat food. In one of my previous orders, I was sent an offer for a treat I could get for myself or my pet – for free! Really, it’s just another way for me to spoil Bain while shopping! SPUD also has a handful of pet-friendly partners, which include Cochrane & Area Humane Society, CPAWS – Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, and San Francisco SPCA.
My Experience with SPUD
I started ordering from SPUD late last year. My experience with the company has been amazing, as their customer service is outstanding. So outstanding, that they once called me at work to ask how my last order was and what kind of item I wanted for free in my next one! I’ve been getting the same delivery driver each time, and he is always super friendly. I find that SPUD truly cares about their customers. It’s so easy for me to shop for what I need, as I can search by special diets such as dairy or gluten-free. I can also spoil my co-workers by having office boxes delivered that can include fruit, healthy snacks, and baked goods. It doesn’t stop there either, remember those harvest boxes I mentioned? SPUD carries those too.
SPUD purchases certified organic and natural grocery products, they also keep a banned ingredient list to ensure what you’re eating is only the good stuff!
To help reduce the impact on the environment, SPUD bins help eliminate unnecessary packaging and reduce waste. We use our bins for storage, but SPUD bins can be returned during your next pickup or dropped off to their warehouse location in Vancouver.
You can check out SPUD’s delivery areas by taking a look at their map through their website. Currently, SPUD’s home bases are located in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Calgary and Edmonton.
Eating well is a main focus of mine, and it’s so much easier with the help of SPUD’s online delivery and variety of products they have available. I’m very big supporter of shopping local, which is why I wanted to talk about SPUD with our readers.
