It’s the dawn of a brand new year! Welcome back to Gogo Dogo! Bain, Kisa and myself are back in action and ready kick off our resolution list for 2017. Our main focus this year is one of the most common resolution themes – health and wellness. My attitude has always been “go big or go home”, and often I’ll dive so hard into goals I end up burning myself out. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that simplifying my fitness goals help me achieve them more easily.
Stretching is an activity that is often overlooked. As a teenager I felt like I never needed to bother with it, until I started closing the gap to age 30 where it feels like you could pull a muscle getting out of bed. My goal is to stretch after waking up in the morning and just before going to bed at night. Bain is 100lbs of muscle, and I’ve noticed that sometimes I feel sore after our walks. I want to be able to feel more limber so we can become much more active this year.
2.) Healthy Eating
While I still haven’t fully accepted it, I am gluten and lactose intolerant. Of course, that doesn’t stop me from eating what I want! However, the results from straying off the path of a proper diet result in pain, less energy, and a terrible immune system. A long-term goal of mine is to transition over to a plant based diet, as I feel this will help with my energy and activity levels. Of course, I’ll never rule out seafood. I have also now switched Bain and Kisa over to the highest quality pet food brands, so everyone in the household will feel healthy and happy.
This was mentioned in last years resolution list, but this is one I’m most excited about. For someone who hates running, this is a great alternative option. Plus, with the more exercise Bain gets the easier it will be to reinforce training and teach him new tricks. Remember, a tired Dogo is a happy Dogo!
I know, I know. Number 3 I stated that I hate running, and I do. Running with bowling balls on your chest is extremely uncomfortable, so I do plan on investing in proper running attire. My focus with this resolution is to increase to my stamina, I just wish I was able to borrow some of Bain’s!
5.) The Hunt for Bigfoot
Yes, this was on our list from last year – but we’re no quitters! Scheduling conflicts have allowed Bigfoot to remain undiscovered for the meantime, but that doesn’t mean we won’t try this year. The search for footprints and other clues will continue, and we’ll have Bain lead the way so we can capture a snapshot!
So, to sum everything up we are looking at a very active and healthier new year. We hope our readers and their furry friends enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. Stay tuned at Gogo Dogo for unique upcoming blog posts. In the meantime, if you’re wanting to get your dose of Bain – check out our Instagram for exclusive photos @gogo.dogo
